The Geo People attends Standards Leadership Council Forum 2014, Paris

The Geo People has attended the Standards Leadership Council forum at the Total SA Auditorium at La Défense, Paris on 18 February, 2014.

The vision of the SLC is to unite the leaders of the upstream oil and gas industry standards organizations in a collaborative environment promoting the adoption of open and freely-available standards. Best practices are recognized as standards because the development process creates trust in industry.

The Standards Leadership Council believe that standards bodies are well placed to:

  • gather industry experts together in an open, vendor neutral environment to communicate and share ideas.
  • facilitate the development of best practices that benefit industry as a whole.
  • encourage the adoption of best practices for the benefit of industry.

The Council Forum is an excellent opportunity to view the state of the art in many areas of standards improvement including monitoring, automation and the need for professional experts to manage and take the initiative. We talked about the difficult challenges we face including common definitions, data security and business processes as well as tape formats and the robustness of using tapes. Input is required for tape format improvement, so if you are a consultant, please contact the SEG with your suggestions. Thank you.

The next meeting of the SLC is on Wednesday, 19 March 2014 Houston, USA.
