The Geo People
Consultants

The Geo People takes its role selecting appropriately qualified, experienced and compatible client representatives very seriously. We take great care to place applicants in the right positions and to build strong, balanced teams that work and communicate well together in the field.

We are always pleased to hear from professionals with experience in seismic project planning and management, seismic and navigation/positioning QC, seismic processing management, marine mammal observation (MMO), PAM and HSSE. The type of surveys we provide services for include Navigation, survey and seismic processing QC, seismic processing management, seismic acquisition QC, site survey QC, MMO and PAM for VSP, explosives, seismic and piling, HSSE, project management for land and marine seismic, UXO surveys around windfarms, UXO deactivation, cable repair, cable laying and rock placement for cables.

We are proud to say that we give our consultants individual attention, focussing on the person rather than the job role in isolation. The people that you will be in contact with at our office have backgrounds in management, are experienced in the field and are qualified professionals in field seismic and MMO. Understanding the needs of both our clients and consultants comes naturally to us. Being prepared is key, and this, together with our experience and support, makes a successful, progressive group.

Professional conduct

It is expected that our consultants go about their business in a professional manner; communicating well in every way, not just verbally and written, but by listening and being sympathetic to the culture of the recipient.

The Geo People has a zero-tolerance approach to corruption and this policy is expressly incorporated into each contract. Consultants will sign and date a copy of our Code of Ethical Conduct to say that they have read and will abide by it.

Reports are started early on during the project and are required to be completed within two weeks post demobilisation. Our consultants know that the energy industry is small (in terms of the number of influential decision makers) so reputations are quickly made. The Geo People provide career advice for consultants, new and experienced, so please do not hesitate to ask. And if you would like feedback on your reports, this is gladly given.

Client proposals

Clients have made it clear that you should not be proposed for the same project by multiple consultancies. We will check your availability with you prior to submitting your CV for a project. If you have asked another consultancy to put your name forward for a project for which you are suitably qualified, please make every effort to withdraw this request before agreeing to be proposed by us. We like to tell our clients that we can prove that our proposed consultant has knowingly only been proposed by The Geo People.

Insurance liability

We cover all our consultants for employers liability up to GBP 10,000,000 (land projects) and up to GBP 5,000,000 (offshore and terrorism), public liability up to GBP 5,000,000 and products liability up to GBP 5,000,000 in addition to Medivac and travel insurance.

Medical requirements

Many of our surveys are located in remote regions so it is important that our consultants are fit to work there. Medivac is very costly when working long distances from a hospital. For these projects we request that in addition to a medical, consultants have a dental check-up every six months.

Although there are no industry requirements for medicals on land surveys, the IOGP guidelines listed in Appendix 1 of ‘Health Management Guidelines for Remote Land Based Geophysical Operations’ Report no. 6.30/190 April 1993, should be applied by a doctor knowledgeable of the local area for surveys in remote locations.

The Civil Aviation Authority's (CAA) requirement that helicopter passengers sit in a seat with access to a push-out emergency window that is compatible with their body size became effective on the 1 April 2015. A passenger shoulder width of greater than 55.9cm is classed as extra-broad (XBR) and they are allocated specific seats. There is a section on our registration form for this measurement. It is also documented on CVs when candidates are proposed to clients.

Training

All our client representatives have the appropriate HSSE training, according to the IAGC guidelines. We provide technical training and training advice and have a network of contacts worldwide to help you receive the training you need.
